Curriculum for DBA programme

Unit-1

Research Methodology

Quantitative and Qualitative [8 credits]: This course focuses on advanced techniques for analyzing quantitative empirical data, with a special emphasis on second-generation statistical approaches and their practical applications in research.

Unit-2

Philosophy

Process of Applied Business Research [8 credits]: This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and development process of managerial business research.

Unit-3

Experiments

Survey Design [8 credits]: This course provides students with an overview of methods and practices for creating and utilizing data based on experiments and surveys in research.

Unit-4

Scholarly

Conference/Seminar [16 credits]: This unit focuses on the attendance of students in different conference, seminars, and certifications etc in their field of study to enhance their knowledge and network with peers.

Unit-5

Doctoral

Thesis [56 credits]: This unit requires students to undertake in-depth research in their chosen field and produce a doctoral thesis that meets the programs requirements.

Unit-6

Viva

Defense [24 credits]: This final unit requires students to present and defend their doctoral thesis in a viva voce examination conducted by external examiners.

PROCESS

Profile Assessment by the Academic Council to determine eligibility for the program.

Enrolment process for successful applicants.

Study of Research Methodology to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for conducting research.

Submission of a Doctoral Proposal, under the guidance of a Supervisor appointed by the University Academic Council.

Conducting Research Work, attending relevant seminars and conferences, and producing a Doctoral Thesis with the guidance of the Supervisor, The thesis must be at least 25,000 words in length.

Evaluation and Acceptance of the thesis paper by the academic council.

Qualifying for the Viva and Defense. The candidate must present their research work and defend their thesis in a viva voce examination conducted by external examiners.

Publication of results and awarding of the certificate upon successful completion of the program.

Optional attendance at the convocation ceremony.

Role of the Supervisor

The designated supervisor’s role in the program is similar to that of a standard Doctorate Project supervisor. However, their focus is primarily on mentoring the candidate, providing support and guidance during the preparation of research material for examination (oral defense), and overseeing the examination process. The supervisor’s responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the candidate in the selection of suitable publications for inclusion in the submission
  • Providing guidance and advice to the candidate in relation to thesis preparation.
  • Advising the candidate on any necessary research training requirements.
  • Supporting the candidate through the examination (oral defense) process.

Practitioner’s Doctorate

Who is suitable?

This methodology is well-suited for individuals who has previous research work and understanding and experience in a particular professional area.

Entry and application criteria

  • Possession of a Master’s degree, preferably with a thesis component, from a recognized institution
  • Potential to meet the necessary criteria for obtaining a Doctorate degree.
  • A minimum of eight years of work experience, with at least three years in a managerial role.
  • Submission of a fully completed application form, along with the required documents.

  • Unit-01: Scholarly Conference [24 C].
  • Unit-02: Doctorate Thesis-Previous Publication [72 C].
  • Unit-03: Viva & Defense [24 C].

Submission of articles or other scholarly work. Submission will be no less than 10,000 words.

Evaluation & Acceptance of submitted paper by the academic council.

Publication of results and awarding of the certificate upon successful completion of the program.

Attend convocation [optional]

Submission Requirement

  • Submit a stand-alone or compilation of research-based written work, which must be between a minimum of 20,000 words and a maximum of 25,000 words
  • Defend the submission in front of a panel of experts, which may be conducted online via video conferencing.
  • Demonstrate that the scholar has conducted a comprehensive and critical investigation of a specific area of research and made an independent and original contribution to the existing body of knowledge as well as professional practice.
